Paying The Way

Grand Total - $1,648

The mission of this trip is, in the end, to get me from my former apartment in Seoul, Korea to my parents' house in Oostburg, Wisconsin by Christmas Eve at the latest. The tentative itinerary is:

Thailand-Laos-Vietnam-China-Nepal-India-Egypt-Jordan-Lebanon-Syria-Turkey-Iraq-Ukraine-Romania-Bulgaria-Greece-Italy-Denmark-Spain-Morocco-Algeria-Portugal-U.S.A.

Upon completing my contract with YBM I was offered a flight from Incheon to O'Hare, which at that time was about $1,200. I think it might be interesting to record the basic travel costs to get me home on this "scenic route" I've devised, to see how the end total compares to that $1,200 ICN-ORD airfare. So here's the running tally, with the total above:

BONUS POINTS:

YBM bought me a flight from Lisbon to Boston which I was able to cancel for a cool $300 cash. This, subtracted from the $1,948 subtotal, is my grand total for the trip.

Excluded from this tally are all other expenses (food, fun, visas, etc) as well as travel to secondary destinations that are not in the line of forward travel (Koh Tao, Halong Bay).
